Hilde van Laere is the founder of iCM and delegate of the CCMI/European Economic and Social Committee. She works as a consultant for private companies and governments in Europe and Africa.

She began her career in the mining industry, at MineralCare NV, a software company, specialized in tracing raw materials, based in Dubai and the Netherlands. MineralCare was the forerunner of the Blockchain technology.

As the co-rapporteur/initiator of the opinion 'Digital Mining: new solutions for sustainable production of raw materials' she stresses out that innovation plays a key role in tackling global challenges. The EU is facing technological, societal, and environmental challenges related to the supply of raw materials. Supporting the mining industries to innovate, is crucial for the EU- and the global economy.
